The Sleepy Photographer Blog

A photography blog that chronicles the adventures and sometimes misadventures of myself and sometimes the members of the North Haven Camera Club.

Under the Bodhi Tree

Larry Augur Farm is located in North Branford Connecticut.  It has been the annual spot where people go to take pictures with the sunflowers that the farm plants almost every year.  There is a tree on this property that I have been trying to capture at the right time of the season and in the right light.

I finally got some good conditions and with most of the sunflowers in a wilted state now, the crowds have gone so I had the field all to myself.  Since the crops in front of the tree are very tall now, a shot from the road on the hill did not work as well as when they are shorter.  I decided to walk past the crops and get to the clear area where there were open grasses and wildflowers.  A storm front was moving through and the clouds where moving across the scene to add some drama.

I was able to get several compositions before the rain clouds dumped rain on me.  I was blessed with beautiful light right up to the sun setting and then darkness and rain escorting me back to the car.

it may be better to embrace one's inner demons rather than fight them.
